Geometric Shapes

Our class has been busy learning about flat and geometric shapes.  Did you know there are shapes all around us?  We have practiced finding shapes in pictures and in objects all over our classroom.  We traced shapes that we found in magazines and then we went on a scavenger hunt.  We even found shapes in the white house!  Next, we compared flat and geometric shapes and we even got to trace and count the edges, faces, and vertices with play-doh!  When we explored the shapes even further, we discovered which ones can stack, slide, and roll.  We are also learning how to use words to describe our shapes like faces, edges, vertices, round and straight.  Watch our videos to learn more.

A Kiss For You!

Our class has been so busy working on a special craft for their families!  We made Hersheys kisses by tracing a 'kiss' shape on construction paper and wrapping it in foil.  The students also wrote a special message to their loved ones on the tag. We can't wait to bring them home!

We just finished a very busy week! In just 5 days we celebrated the first day of February, the 100th Day of School, and Groundhog Day!  The fun was non-stop!  On the 100th Day, we read a book about Ms. Bindergarten's class' 100th day of school and we learned about all of the neat activities that her class did to kick off the big day.  Then we were able to do some of the activities in our own classroom.  To name just a few, we made a 100th day snack by making 10 sets of 10 treats, we made 100 tally marks on ticker tape, we wrote a 100 book, we 'raced to 100' and we even did 100 exercises!  Watch the video below to see some of the 100 objects that our class brought in for the big day.

Welcome to our class blog!  We have the most amazing class of Kindergartners and we are so excited to show off all of the exciting things that are going on in our classroom!  Creating a blog is a brand new experience for me as well, so please bear with us as we learn to overcome the 'techincal difficulties' :)

That being said, I have a question for parents:  What are the features/information that you are hoping will be included on this blog?  Do you have any suggetions that will help make this a more beneficial experience for you and your child?  I would love to know what your thoughts are.
