Field Day Fun

We just wrapped up a fantastic Field Day!  The students played in teams and rotated among a variety of different stations.

They tested their endurance at the Jump Rope Competition...

...and raced for the victory at the soccer, rainbow, egg, basketball, and water relays:

Of course, the most popular stations would probably have to be the frozen treats and face painting centers:

The students also enjoyed boogying in the disco dance room with some suspiciously familiar faces...

Some of us even got a little wet in the water balloon toss:

We wrapped up a great day by showing off our hula skills at the hoop competition:

Most importantly, a TEXAS-SIZED thank-you to all of the parents and volunteers that helped us have another successful field day!  We couldn't do it without you!!

Field Day

This Friday, we kicked off the end of the year celebrations with our annual Field Day.  A special thanks to Coach Foster and all of our parents who helped make this day's events possible.

Ready, set.....

Let the games begin!

Our day commenced in the gym with the limbo competition.  We had some very flexible students!

Next, we moved on to the soccer and noodle relay races.

The competition heated up with the egg relay race.

Then we cooled down with the water balloon toss!

We also took a detour to enjoy a sweet treat.

We were then transformed in the face painting station!  Love the mustaches :)

It's hard to see in the photos, but we also took a trip to the music t-shack where the students caught a little bit of disco fever!  Ms. Aycock had Just Dance projecting from the Activ Board to help the little ones up their moves!

Off to the water relay!  This is where we really got to see who was trying hard to stay dry and who preferred to 'splash around' :)

Our next stop was the basketball relay.  The students were sure to show their team spirit at this station!

The bean bag toss was also a 'hole in one'.

Last but definitely not least, we headed back to the gym for a hula-hoop endurance test.  We had some very determined 'hula-ers'!

At the end of the day, we rewarded our young athletes with a 'home' made treat.  First, we colored the book below 'We Scream for Ice Cream' (www.makinglearningfun.com/.../EmergentReaderListing.htm), and then headed outside with Mrs. Wooten'c class to make 'ice cream in a bag' (you can find the recipe at: http://www.food.com/recipe/homemade-ice-cream-in-a-bag-34257 ).
