Field Day Fun

We just wrapped up a fantastic Field Day!  The students played in teams and rotated among a variety of different stations.

They tested their endurance at the Jump Rope Competition...

...and raced for the victory at the soccer, rainbow, egg, basketball, and water relays:

Of course, the most popular stations would probably have to be the frozen treats and face painting centers:

The students also enjoyed boogying in the disco dance room with some suspiciously familiar faces...

Some of us even got a little wet in the water balloon toss:

We wrapped up a great day by showing off our hula skills at the hoop competition:

Most importantly, a TEXAS-SIZED thank-you to all of the parents and volunteers that helped us have another successful field day!  We couldn't do it without you!!

Pennies for Patients

Congratulations to the students in our class who helped raised money for leukemia and lymphoma patients by saving and donating pennies.  Because of our donations, our class was entered in a raffle and won a free (and delicious) pasta party provided by Olive Garden!  We are so thankful to our counselors too who helped organize all of the details.  To read more about the awesome fundraising campaign sponsored by Olive Garden, please visit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's website at:  http://www.schoolandyouth.org/school/Controller?action=loadContent&itemid=487971.

Way to go!

Congratulations to Sage this month's estimation jar winner!  She had the closest estimation to the number of carrot gummies in April's candy jar.  Keep up the good work!

HEB, here we come!

The students had a blast touring our local grocery store this week!  We visited all of the different departments and played a different game in each one.  The students' favorite game was trying to figure out which fruit or vegetable was placed in their hands behind their back without looking.    Our guide, Ms. Dolores, showed us all of the different cakes with our favorite cartoon characters that we could purchase from the bakery.  Some of the Kindergartners were even able to test their frosting skills, and won a prize or two!

I think we gave the shoppers a little scare when Ms. Dolores pulled out several live crawfish for us to see-  I wouldn't be surprised if some of our shrieks reached the parking lot!

When we arrived back to class, we made the following video together to show off the highlights of our day:

Make your own slideshow with music at Animoto.

Hats (or crowns!) off to HEB for a great field trip!

Meeting the Worms...

Our class has been very busy learning about the needs of living things and comparing their bodies and environments.  With a special delivery of worms this week, we were able to have a more 'hands-on' experience to help us complete our research.

Check out the videos below to see some of our students meeting the worms for the first time!

Jars of Gold

Jayla had the luck 'o the Irish this week!  She estimated that there were 28 gold coins in in our Estimation Jar this month and, when our class counted them together, she was exactly right!  Leprechauns everywhere are very jealous...

Giddy' up Texas Cowboys!

We celebrated the last Friday before Spring Break in true cowboy style!  Our classrooms were transformed into 'game-zones' for the big event, and the students dressed in their best rodeo clothes.  Check out the pictures below and see our February page to hear more about our exciting day.
