Counting Hearts

A big 'shout-out' to our Maddie for being the Estimation Jar winner this month!  She had the closest estimate of the number of chocolate conversational hearts wrapped inside.  What a perfect way to end the month of love...

Colors Everywhere!

We just had to show off Cristian's super-cool shirt!  We had a Science review lesson today as we recognized the color wheels we painted in September to help us discover how new colors are made...

Hooray for the 100th Day!

It's hard to believe we just finished celebrating the 100th day of school!  Some of the students were surprised to see their teacher and some of their classmates dressed up as 100 year-olds for the day!  The students showcased their amazing posters displaying 100 items (thank-you for your help with this parents!), and we played plenty of games.  Below you will find a few pictures of our fun-filled day.  Please visit our 'February' page (it can be accessed by clicking the 'Going Deeper' tab and then clicking on 'Month to Month') to see more pictures and to hear more about how we celebrated.

Estimating Snowballs

Congratulations to Damian, our January estimation jar winner!  His estimate of 87 'snowballs' (chocolate covered raisins), was the closest approximation to the actual number of 102.  Way to go Damian!

All the Way to 100!

Congratulations to all of our classmates who impressed us by counting all the way to 100!  The proud counting Kindergartners wore their gold medals and took their certificates home to share with their families.  We can't wait until all of our class friends enter the 100 Hall of Fame!

Santa Was Here!

When we arrived in our classroom this morning, we could almost feel the magic in the air!  Good 'Ol Saint Nick had filled up the stockings we hung in our classroom!  The students were glowing as they opened up all of their treats.  Santa even left us personalized "Don't Let the Pigeon Fly the Sleigh" books that he made for us based on our class' favorite Mo Willems pigeon book series.  Nothing is more fun than watching little ones enjoy the miracle of Christmas...

One Lucky Man!

Samuel knocked our socks off this month when he correctly estimated the exact number of candy apple Milky Ways in our November's estimation jar!  Believe it or not, this is already the second time this year he has done this!  He has one keen eye for counting candy- maybe a future mathematician?  Great job Samuel!
